Question
My 1 1/2 year old Yorkie seems to sleep all the time….I’m wondering if somehting is wrong with her…..
Maybe I notice it more because it is Summer Break and we are home all the time….maybe she has slept all the time before but since we were at work and school…we didn’t notice it….it just makes me think something is wrong with her???
Answer
It is very common for Yorkies to sleep quite a bit, even as much as 14 or 15 hours in a 24 hour period.
Often Yorkies sleep at night while you are asleep and whenever you leave the house.
They love being around their people, so it’s not unusual for them to sleep a lot.
It may be that your Yorkie has simply accustomed herself to sleeping a lot because you were not previously around all day.
One surefire way to find out if there is a problem is to try actively playing with your Yorkie a bit more.
Odds are once you show that you’re ready to give her attention and play, she will perk right up.
Also her favorite treats typically work wonders as a wakeup call.
