Question
My yorkie is 4 months and he doesn’t bark yet. Is that normal?
Answer
Many Yorkies are late bloomers when it comes to barking, but they don’t stop once they find their vocal cords!
Your Yorkie may even have started barking not long after you sent your message.
Some Yorkies do not start barking until they are four, five, six months, or even a bit older. Some may even be a year old before they really start the frequent barking we typically associate with the breed.
Most of the barking issue boils down to the dog’s personality, but if he doesn’t bark by the time he is nine months old, it’s definitely something to address with the vet just to make sure there is nothing going on with his health that’s preventing him from barking.
