Pj’s story! – Microchip your Yorkie
Oh how I lost my pj! He was the cutest thing ever he would alway run around and lick my face.
My kids were going out to play and them only being little opened up the door and the dog ran out.
She was no where to be found we thought she was gone. 3 or 4 months later we get a call from a shelter in California!
They had found pj because of a micro chip. We took a plane immediately and got her.
If you ever have a dog get it micro chipped! It saved pj!
Editors Note:
Microchipping your Yorkie is an essential step for responsible pet ownership and has several crucial benefits:
-
Identification and Recovery:
Yorkies, being small and adorable, can be at a higher risk of getting lost or stolen. Microchipping provides a permanent and unique identification for your dog, helping to quickly identify the owner and contact you if your pet is found.
2. Legal Requirements:
In many regions, microchipping dogs is a legal requirement. By complying with these regulations, you avoid potential fines or legal issues related to pet ownership.
3. Collar and Tag Backup:
While it’s crucial for your Yorkie to wear a collar with an ID tag, these can sometimes come off or get lost. A microchip serves as a reliable backup identification system.
4. Peace of Mind:
Microchipping provides peace of mind for pet owners. Knowing that your Yorkie has a traceable identification helps alleviate anxiety about losing your pet and increases the likelihood of a safe return.
5. Deterrent to Theft:
Microchipping can act as a deterrent to pet theft. If a potential thief knows that your Yorkie has a microchip, they might be less likely to steal your dog due to the increased risk of getting caught.
6. Medical Information:
Some advanced microchips allow you to store essential medical information, such as allergies or chronic conditions. This can be particularly useful in case your Yorkie requires immediate medical attention while you’re not present.
7. Lifetime Coverage:
Once implanted, the microchip lasts the lifetime of your Yorkie and requires no maintenance. It’s a one-time procedure with long-term benefits.
8. Quick and Painless Procedure:
Microchipping is a relatively simple and quick procedure that causes minimal discomfort to your Yorkie. It involves inserting a tiny microchip beneath the skin between the shoulder blades. Most dogs handle it well and resume their regular activities shortly after the procedure.
Remember, a microchip is only effective if you keep your contact information up-to-date with the microchip registry. If you move or change your phone number, be sure to update the information to ensure that your Yorkie can always be reunited with you.
