The famous yorkie maltese mix
AKA Malkie, Yorktese, Yorkie Maltese Mix
Morkie puppies have shot up in popularity in recent years. This yorkshire terrier and maltese mix was previously commonly known as a yorktese.
These maltese yorkie mix dogs are super cute!
However, as mentioned on the yorkie mix page if people insist on buying morkies from breeders, they will continue breeding these mutts.
There are already many ‘designer dogs’ available and you can look for a yorkie/maltese mix at a yorkshire terrier rescue and adopt one.
So if you see any yorkie maltese mix puppies for sale please ignore.
It is thought that the first yorktese (as they were known) was bred in the United states, however it is not known whether it came about as a mistake or whether it was intentionally done.
The yorkie maltese mix generally have high energy levels and as the yorkshire terrier description provided, they will be better dogs for slightly older, more mature children due to their need for attention and their playfulness.
The Yorktese, unlike yorkshire terriers are not known for their barking. Both yorkies and maltese dogs are renowned for being a harder breed to housebreak and unfortunately this mix is also harder to potty train.
On the positive side they are very intelligent and are very easy to train.
When looking at the appearance of a mixed breed dog we can never be sure of what it will look like. A yorkie maltese mix can have any of the yorkshire terrier characteristics or any of the maltese characteristics.
Usually the yorkie maltese mix puppies are black with tan and white markings. It is possible to have cream/white morkie puppies, however this is extremely rare.
The yorkie maltese mix will normally grow to weigh 6lbs on average.
Like yorkies they are non-shedding and so far there have been no documented allergy reactions, so it is very possible that also like yorkies they are hypoallergenic.
