Foods I feed my Yorkie
I’ve had my Romeo for a year now and he refuses to eat puppy/dog food. He loves raw veggies and fruits – lettuce, carrots, broccoli, cabbage, mangoes, nectarines, bananas, apples, pears, peaches. Don’t hesitate to try brown rice mixed with canned tuna in water or boiled chicken. Yogurt and cottage cheese are great too. Romeo weighs in at 12.5 lbs and the vet has approved of his diet.

My Yorkie Diet
My Yorkie is nine and refused to eat kibble as a pup so we introduced foods. Since then she has been eating a well-balanced diet consisting of varied meats and fish, eggs, vegetables (loves very finely minced green and red peppers…I puree peas and carrots but with some texture) and brown rice. Unfortunately, the only fruit she prefers is cantaloupe but is fond of tomato sauce. She doesn’t like food mixed together and prefers to eat each portion at a time. Cottage cheese, plain or vanilla yogurt and grated hard cheese are additions to a meal. Usually a pup who is introduced to milk products at a very early stage will not develop a lactose intolerance. As a supplement, after dinner my Yorkie looks forward to a crushed vitamin and mineral tablet (Canine Plus) as if it were a treat. I don’t give her treats and especially eatable chews which are non-nutritional fillers and slow to digest.

Food for Macy
My yorkie Maggie Mae will not eat plain dog food. I cook white meat chicken tenders chopped finely with mixed vegetables, white rice and olive oil. She also loves carrots, apples, strawberries, and white peaches. I leave dry dog food for her and she eats a little of it daily.

Good luck!
My Louis only eats people food! We always cook him chicken or beef with a bit of ollive oil and mix it in with his dry food. He normally eats around the dry food! However, recently we have another yorkie who is 5 months (and a teacup!) so Louis eats his dry food! Winston (the baby) eats Louis dry food!
Careful, once they have the people food they will never go back to dog food!
